2005 Sustainable Urban Transportation Award: The Gunningsville Bridge and Associated Urban Bypasses
The purpose of this paper is to discuss the benefits and success of the new replacement bridge built across the Petitcodiac River by the New Brunswick Department of Transportation, linking the Greater Moncton Area (GMA). The Canadian Strategic Infrastructure Fund (CSIF) Agreement for Municipal Bypass Projects is financing new bypasses adding to the bridge. Upon completion of these projects, the bridge will create an inner GMA cross-river loop concept which will contribute to an enhanced quality of life by protecting the environment while supporting the long-term economic growth and greater prosperity of the GMA.
