Export experts

This article looks at the condition of the tyre manufacturing industry in Japan. Exports rose steadily in 2004, with the export market being 52 per cent larger than the domestic, although demand for replacement tyres is increasing within Japan. The tyre market is expanding worldwide. China is not a major destination for Japanese tyres: however, Japanese companies have a growing place in Chinese tyre manufacture, as well as increasing operations in the USA and Europe. A controlling interest in rubber plantations in Sumatra, Indonesia has been purchased.
