Performance of Modified Asphalt Aging under Ultraviolet Radiation
In an intensive ultraviolet radiation and low average annual temperature area, photo-oxidation is one of the main causes for road asphalt aging. This paper investigated the magnitude and wave range of intensive ultraviolet radiation in Qingzang plateau in China. To compare asphalt aging under indoor and outdoor environments, ultraviolet radiation emulation aging tests were conducted. From these tests, this paper discusses the difference in the influence of ultraviolet photo-oxidation and thermal oxidation on asphalt performance. In addition, anti-aging agents were suggested as a solution to asphalt aging.
