Regional Flier

Flybe, a British airline billed as the U.K.’s leading non-London-centric airline, is expanding its ownership of regional jets with a $950 million deal involving the new Embraer 195, a 118-seat jet that is the newest and largest of the 170/190 family of planes. Flybe is in the midst of a turnaround with a profit in the fiscal year ending in March 2005. Its largest base is Southampton Airport, followed by Exeter. Nearly all bookings are done over the Internet, and fees are charged for food and beverages and for checking luggage. There is also a business class of ticket that gives more amenities. An IPO is expected in the first half of 2007.
