Following the amalgamation of several minor railway companies in the Ruhr, it was necessary for two traction systems, one 15 kV 16 2/3 Hz, the other 15 kV 50 Hz to be combined on the new mine and port railway. The article describes the problems encountered and the solutions adopted for the locomotives.
