Execution of Pavement Management System by the National Road Agency
In recent years, transit truck traffic has exceeded the network’s capacity, causing many accidents and rapid degradation of the pavement. To deal with this situation a Road Network Management System has been developed. This system consists of two parts. The first – Road Network Investment Plan is based on national standards, road network characteristic, transportation characteristics, road parameters, assessment of environment and vehicle operating cost. The results of these are creating a strategic plan for investment. The second part – Pavement Management System obtains information database, structural pavement evaluation, decision making system and optimizing of financing requirements. The goal is to create on optimal rehabilitation budget. Lots of theoretical and practical experiences are presented.
