TELEX-COMPUTER TRACKS THE BOX
Computer application in the world of shipping is a rapidly growing and diversifying concept which is spreading to include all areas of maritime operations. In the context of containerisation, the computer is currently being utilised to process and co-ordinate not only the entire freight documentation procedure, but also the in-terminal stacking, allocation and distribution systems. More recently, the development of automation has concentrated on the actual control and tracking of whole fleets of containers on a network of routes. The article examines the latest computer control operation, which emanates from France.
