SLOW AND HIGH FREQUENCY MOTIONS AND LOADS OF ARTICULATED SINGLE POINT MOORING SYSTEMS FOR LARGE TANKERS
This paper reviews the theoretical model for computation of the motions and loads of an articulated single-point mooring system for large tankers. Nonlinear equations of motions have been formulated and solved using time integration techniques. Excitation from wind, waves and current are taken into account retaining the possiblities of specifying individual directions for each contribution. A computer program developed on the basis of the analytical model is used to study numerical examples. Comparison between theoretical and model test results demonstrates the practical applicability of the analytical model.
