Speed Gradient Model Simulating the On-Ramp Traffic
In this paper, the authors have studied the on-ramp problem using the generalized speed gradient traffic flow model. Different from previous research where only the influence of the on-ramp flow on the main road is considered, the opposite effects are included in this work. The phase diagrams, under the situations that the main road and the on-ramp have the same or different width, are presented and compared. The typical traffic patterns in different regions in the phase diagram have been investigated.
