The Evaluation of Transit Transport Probable Effects on the Development of Country's Economy
In this article, the authors examine the influence that transportation has on the development of a country’s economy in general and on the Lithuanian economy in particular. It is shown that from a beneficial perspective, the increased revenue from transportation taxes to the government’s budget will allow for improvement to the transportation system, which in turn will enable the transportation system to be more effective and competitive in the international market. The article also recognizes the possible negative impacts of transportation, such as an increase in environmental problems and traffic safety problems. A comparative analysis of differing approaches to transportation performance modeling is also presented.
