Analysis of DCP test results for pavement design
This article describes the use of dynamic cone penetrometer (DCP) testing in a field investigation. This instrument is designed for rapid in-situ measurement of road structural properties for cost benefit analysis. The case study was taken from the Naqbah Ahmar road, India, after heavy rain. The equipment is listed and the procedure described. The formula for determination of the California Bearing Ratio (CBR) of each layer is given and the results tabulated, for two methods: Japanese formula and average penetration per blow. Advantages and disadvantages are given in an annex to the paper, with a basic computer program for calculation of CBR.
