UTILISATION GRADES IN THE TRANSFORMATION OF ENERGY IN MOTOR SHIPS
Each 1% rise in the efficiency of the fuel-energy conversion in motorships of the East German merchant fleet would be equivalent to an annual savings of several thousand tonnes of fuel. The Authors discuss the possibilities of raising this efficiency, and propose that the utilisation of the fuel energy supplied to a ship should be categorised into one of six grades are discussed in some detail, and the associated data on energy-conversion efficiency and means of improving it are shown diagrammatically.
