SURVEY OF WEIGHING METHODS CURRENTLY AVAILABLE COMMERCIALLY
Proposed revision to existing axle and vehicle mass limits in Australia ihn line with the recommendations of the NAASRA economics of road vehicle limits study team will emphasise the need for authorities to select the most reliable and economical means of ensuring compliance with the new requirements. This paper outlines the historical development of weighing apparatus, and compares the various weighing techniques that are used or being developed. It is concluded that low speed dynamic weighing systems appear to offer the best compromise between the conflicting requirements of ease of operation, productivity, cost and reliability, provided that the basic installation and operating needs are satisfied. /Author/TRRL/
