Instrumentation and Monitoring of HPC Bridge Decks

The primary focus of this research project involved the instrumentation and on-site monitoring of the construction of the eastbound Kernville Viaduct bridge deck. While the Great Bend Bridge in District 4-0 used the same protocol, the descriptions herein use the Kernville Viaduct as the example. The instrumentation serves to gather strain and temperature data from the bridge superstructure during construction and as long-term in-situ performance monitors. The monitors are used in the assessment of the quality control, construction procedures, and the performance of the deck. A detailed summary of all instrumentation and monitoring equipment and installation are included in this report.
