Principles for Management and Development of Sea Passenger Ports
This article outlines the principles that can be used for the management and development of sea passenger ports. Evaluations and ratings of ports are crucial in the traveler’s decision of which seaport they should use. The authors apply numerous principles for sea passenger ports in the Republic of Croatia, noting that the problem of positive ratings of sea passenger ports is often overlooked, but can be one of the vital parts of the economy, which is based in large part on tourism. The authors review SWOT (strength, weakness, opportunities, threats) analyses that provide a clear picture of port management. This method focuses not only on the port, but also the town where the port is located. The analyses include the impact on the town, its attractions, and the likelihood of successful management of the port. The measures of the port politics are applied to other factors including resources, tourist offers, structure, public sectors, town future planning, communication, image, and trends.
