Stabilization of the Leaning Tower of Pisa
The paper deals with the essential studies and works undertaken in the years 1990 to 2001 for a permanent stabilization of the Leaning Tower of Pisa and namely with their structural aspects. The present pathology of the Tower is described, as well as the non destructive testing and the structural analysis leading to the definition of the strengthening. The structural upgrading is briefly described and the results of the tilt reduction are reported.
