CALCULATIONS OF MOTIONS AND LOADS OF A SHIP UNIFORMLY ADVANCING IN OBLIQUE REGULAR WAVES, TECHNICAL MEMORANDUM
This paper presents a strip method for evaluating the wave-exciting forces and moments, motion-induced forces and moments, motions and wave loads of a ship uniformly advancing in oblique regular waves. In addition, an indirect method is presented for determining damping coefficients for roll as a function of speed and frequency. Extensive numerical calculations for a Series 60 model and an SL-7 container ship model were carried out and the correlations of the theoretical results and the experimental values are shown in the figures.
