Station car parks

Accessible, secure car parking is a basic factor considered when travellers decide whether to take the train. Specialist companies increasingly manage car parks on behalf of train operating companies (TOCs). CP Plus has contracts with South West Trains and Wessex Trains to manage station car parks. Emphasis is placed on levels of enforcement, clear marking of parking bays, up to date signage and cleanliness. Central Parking System manages 160 station car packs for South Eastern Trains, WAGN, one, c2c, Northern and Central Trains. A new maintenance division has been formed to manage safety, cleanliness and convenience issues in 93 South Eastern Trains car parks. The Secured Parking Scheme has been replaced by the Safer Parking Scheme, supervised by the British Parking Association on behalf of the police. Operators are required to focus on reducing risk. Vinci Park UK, in partnership with London Underground Ltd., has achieved Safer Parking Award status for the 34 car parks on the Central and Piccadilly Lines. Vinci Park UK also manages Chiltern Railways car parks and 14 Silverlink station car parks. NCP implemented a car park management scheme in 2004 on behalf of First TransPennine Express. NCP has been awarded 24 Park Mark Safer Parking Awards for the 24 London Underground car parks that it manages.
