Securing the Logistics of the Shopping Mall
This paper looks at the difficulties of dealing with terrorist attacks on shopping malls. Malls are major nodes in the urban supply chain linking retailers to final consumers of goods and services. Because of the large concentrations of people who gather in them, and the variety of possible points of attack, they offer attractive and vulnerable targets for potential terrorists as seen in the past in the UK. The paper draws upon interviews in Northern Virginia, USA with a number of stakeholders to examine the dangers in the current situation and the measures that are being taken to combat them.
