THIRD NATIONAL DAYS ON SAFETY IN THE CONSTRUCTION INDUSTRY: EXCAVATIONS. CONCLUSIONS
III JORNADAS NACIONALES DE SEGURIDAD EN LA CONSTRUCCION: EXCAVACIONES. CONCLUSIONES
The general conclusions reached during the conference are outlined: (1) it is necessary to increase the sensitivity to danger and to preventive measures; (2) it is also necessary to include in excavation projects technical measures for ensuring maximum safety; (3) security systems must be clearly set up by the administration; (4) a safety project must be drafted for the stage of the execution of the works; (5) the safety project will include the study of adequate signs and signals which must be classified and standardized; (6) it would be desirable to study the setting up of a data base; (7) each site will have at least one worker able to give first-aid to casualties; (8) standards governing transport must be updated and completed; (9) compulsory creation of a safety and hygiene committee during underground excavation works. As regards accident prevention, the technical ability of the managers and professional training of the workers are essential factors. /TRRL/
