ELECTRIC ROAD VEHICLES
The paper gives a brief overview of the energy situation and relates this to road transport developments. Battery powered road transport as it is now is examined along the extrapolations from this current situation. The various factors which will dictate progress in the growth of electric road vehicle usage, such as technological developments, environmental pressures and, above all, total costs of building and operating electric vehicles are compared with internal combustion engined counter-parts. An account of the activities of the chloride group in this field follows, including vehicle drive train and battery developments. /Author/TRRL/
