Mass General Extends Parking Security
This article concerns the parking structure at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, specifically giving attention to that structure’s closed CCTV surveillance system and its closed emergency phone systems. As this hospital is the largest in New England, with the parking structure alone requiring 150 officers for security, officials thought it germane to extend their emergency response capabilities into their parking structure. The security personnel at the hospital find the integrated CCTV/phone service to be essential to operations due to the extent of observation allowed. Although the phone services are most critically seen as an emergency service, they also offer general assistance as well, which is what the predominance of usage has been for the system.
