Willingness-To-Pay for Personal Rapid Transit in the City of Almelo
A Stated-Preference study has been conducted after the potentials of a Personal Rapid Transit system in the city of Almelo. This innovative transportation system should connect the railway station, centre and hospital using separate infrastructure, and improve the use and quality of public transport in the city. The stated-preference questionnaire was returned by over 300 respondents and made is possible to estimate the coefficients for a logit model focusing on travelers’ mode choice. The estimated model for the model shift is applied in a traffic demand analysis in order to generate the future origin-destination matrix. A simulation model is applied to investigate the needed number of vehicles in the PRT network for a desired quality level of the system.
