Oh, How the Ohio Central Works for the Freight
This article describes the Ohio Central Railroad System, a conglomerate of 10 affiliated short lines under a single, very successful management. The article includes a map of the system, as well as a time-line over 20 years that illustrates one man’s vision that transformed a 35-mile short line hauling 100 cars a year into a 485.7-mile conglomerate of 10 railroads carrying about 80,000 carloads of freight each year. It also includes a profile of Ohio Central’s owner, Jerry Jacobson, as well as a look at how the management team has made the railroad so successful.
