Public health's care

The US Department of Transportation (USDOT) is developing plans, as part of its Emergency Transportation Operations (ETO) intelligent transport system (ITS) initiative, to cope with several large-scale health care incidents occurring simultaneously. In such incidents, transportation providers face the challenges of sustaining transportation within limited mobility zones, delivering goods from outside to inside the zone, and sustaining transportation outside the affected zone. The ETO initiative began with a broad scale literature search. The second step was developing the Operational Concept, a concept of transportation operations for such situations. The Operational Concept contains seven transportation agency action areas for incident response: notification, coordination, resource support, support for emergency responders, support for the public, other activities, and technology applications.
