Parking in commercial areas: know your customer!
Evaluating parking needs is more than just a matter of some calculations and some numbers. The quantitative aspect is only just a part of it, and often not the most important. Evaluating parking needs should at least exist of three elements: How many parking spaces do I need? (the quantitative part); Where should the parking facilities be located?; Who should use the different facilities, and how do I obtain the right use of the parking facilities in a city-center? In this paper the focus will be primarily on city-centers. The basic principles however may be easily translated to other types of parking-concentrations too.
