Investing in Innovation

Civil engineering firms must continue to evolve in order to stay relevant. Investing in new technology is one important way to accomplish this goal. However, balancing the costs and value of new technologies is challenging. This article provides a broad perspective on how civil engineering firms can leverage technology to remain competitive. The authors suggest that firms must differentiate themselves from their competitors, get paid for the value they provide, view client satisfaction as a key driver of innovation, see employees as central to technology decisions and recognize existing barriers to technological advancement.
