Doing Business in the Metro Market
This article looks at the urban mass transit scene in China. It relates that both the increase in population and car ownership will lead to widespread gridlock unless administrators push forward with plans for expansion of the metro and light rail transit systems. The article also notes that the demand for advanced technology is creating more opportunities for western supplies to bring their products and expertise to China. Included in the article is a table identifying urban mass transit systems in China. The table indicates the location and type of system, existing lines and their length, and the number and length of lines that are under construction or planned.
