The Future of Ticketing is Tickety-Boo

British railroads are experimenting with a variety of new ticketing technology to make rail travel more efficient. This article describes some of these new systems, including smart card and fast ticketing systems. A catalyst for this interest in smart cards has been the success of the Oyster card system which is used by 2.6 million passengers on the London Underground.
