Digital Signage: The Next Great Employee Communication Tool?
This article discusses the use of digital signage to rely vital company-wide information as told through the specific case example of the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA), which serves the Niagara/Buffalo region of New York state and the Dallas Area Rapid Transit (DART) of Texas. The system in New York was implemented so that managers could quickly relay information to all of their employees, including those without easy access to e-mail or conventional bulletin boards. The system has been found to be very user-friendly, which inexperienced administrative personnel creating about 90 percent of the content. DART's system has experienced similar success, with LCD screens in operator's lounges giving them real-time performance indicator data.
