ANALYSIS OF DOT NEAR-TERM TRANSPORTATION RESEARCH, DEVELOPMENT, AND DEMONSTRATION ACTIVITIES
The transportation complex of the Nation is divided into six modes. The activities for each of those modes are presented by technology goals and objectives. The transportation trends of the Nation, for each of these modes, were analyzed through a number of studies and the data derived from these studies were used to establish key factors in guiding the strategy of planning near-term research, development, and demonstration activities. Information regarding the responsible agency within the Department of Transportation, program funding, and scheduling for each of the planned activities is presented.
