Critical Issues in Aviation and the Environment: Technology Deployment
Research into the fundamental effects of aviation on the environment cannot be converted into improvements that would reduce those effects unless the recommended technologies are actually developed and deployed in the field. The pace and scope of deploying new technologies within the aviation enterprise in an increasingly complex future depends on numerous factors, many of which are not well understood. This paper discusses the current state of the practice in the deployment of technological advances, presents a future vision for technology deployment, and outlines specific research needs to address the critical issues in technology deployment.
