It all starts here
The Australian National ITS Centre will be the world's first industry-led collaborative base for excellence in ITS (intelligent transport system) competency, innovation and commercialisation. The primary functions of the Centre include driving innovation in ITS to the global marketplace, commercialisation of local intellectual property, and coordination of applied research and development in areas relevant to transportation and logistics. To provide the Centre with real functionality and ensure that its priorities can be validated, ITS Australia has identified a facility in Port Melbourne. The economic, social and environmental benefits of the Centre were modelled to determine what effect the Centre could generate. The results suggested that the Centre will deliver substantial savings to government, the community and the environment. Details are given of the simulation.
