The IT route to recovery
Debt recovery company Phocol has devised a computerised routing system called Collections for optimising the routes of bailiffs as they collect unpaid parking penalties in the UK. Phocol was formed by the merger of Phoenix Collections and Collect Services. The introduction of the system has improved productivity by 40%. The system assigns a week's work (approximately 10,000 warrants) to 40 bailiffs. It uses a digital map of the UK to calculate the most efficient route to take. The system replaces the DOS routing system Truckstops and the GeoConcept system used by Collect Services. It allows bailiffs to make 50-70 calls a day.
