A Reliable Advanced-Join System for Data Multicasting in ITS Networks
In this paper, the authors propose a reliable multicast system for use in a dedicated short-range communications (DSRC) based intelligent transportation systems (ITS) network. The proposed system consists of a multicast-group-management method known as "Advanced-Join (AJ) system", a data-retransmission method, and a data-recovery processing method. The DSRC access network is a dedicated network that consists of base stations (BSs) that are assigned to match the geographical road features and the local traffic features. Simulation results reveal that the proposed AJ system can improve packet loss during the movement of mobile hosts between cells as well as reduce message traffic for group management.
