Higher standards will boost traffic
AEA Technology Rail (AEA Rail), UK, has developed a one-stop shop approach to train modernisation and refurbishment. One area of serious dissatisfaction amongst passengers has been toilets on older trains in terms of amenity, cleanliness and hygiene. After consultation with operators and passengers, AEA Rail's solution included a system of sacrificial wall cladding to improve the compartment appearance and a modular structure enclosing a modern wash-basin, litterbin, soap dispenser, towel dispenser and hot-air drier in a single unit. The floor features a fully weldable polymer decorative covering. The module was designed for cleanability and easy maintenance. AEA Rail has an in-house industrial design facility and sees good design as fundamental to the quality of its products.
