Evaluation of Dynamit-R under Crash Conditions
DynaMIT-R, a dynamic traffic assignment (DTA)-based real time traffic estimation and prediction program, is developed to help improving the efficiency of the transportation management and operation system. The evaluation of DynaMIT-R is an important step before actual field deployment. Most efforts in the past focused on the assessment of DynaMIT-R under normal traffic conditions. However, the performance of DynaMIT-R under crash conditions is a major operational challenge for the real time implementations. This paper presents a procedure and its results of DynaMIT-R evaluation under crash conditions using offline data from the Hampton Roads, VA.
