Development of Public Transit Information Services Based on Mobile Tracking Technologies
This research demonstrates an efficient traffic information provision system for public transit users the technologies of location identification and tracking utilizing personal communication system (PCS) and personal digital assistants (PDA). A methodology is demonstrated in this project, which combines and processes data including transit vehicle location referencing, travel time forecasting, and transit route guidance using the wireless communication network, i.e. PCS in order to provide travel time information through PCS and PDA.
