Chongqing - Enter the Dragon
This article describes China's new signature airport, Chongqing Jiangbei International, which opened in December 2004. The airport is initially expected to handle seven million passengers a year, but will increase capacity by more than 200 percent to 25 million in the future. The airport's design, with its wavy roof-line, is meant to evoke a mythical Chinese dragon. The article describes the design in detail, as well as the rationale for sustainability and energy efficiency.
