Developing Route Choice Models in a Simulation-Based Dynamic Traffic Assignment Platform
Stated preference survey was conducted to investigate and model route diversion behavior in response to 13 variations (scenarios) of the travel information provided by Variable Message Sign (VMS). The subjects of interest include auto drivers and motorcyclists traveling on various environments of freeway or urban settings, and familiarity of the regions. Three models based on random utility theory were specified and calibrated in this study to be included in the en-route route choice module in the simulation-based dynamic traffic assignment platform under development (DynaTAIWAN).
