Phileas Knows Its Route by Heart
The Phileas guidance system is being tested on intermediate transit vehicles in Eindhoven, the Netherlands. This system uses an onboard computer to retain the route to be followed and counts wheel rotations to determine its position on the route. This system combines elements of both mechanically guided systems and virtually guided systems.
