COOPERATION -- KEY FOR SOLVING HIGHWAY AND AGRICULTURAL WATER MANAGEMENT PROBLEMS

Drainage is an essential factor in the design, construction, and maintenance of highway systems, as well as in the management of adjoining agricultural lands. To provide for this factor, it is necessary for all parties involved to have a thorough understanding of drainage laws and engineering practices within their particular jurisdiction, be acquainted with the typical types of problems that can occur and their possible solutions, develop an effective medium of communication so that the necessary information can be easily exchanged, and be willing to cooperate with each other. Effective media of communication together with advanced planning permit the development of coordinated highway and agricultural programs.
