THE INFLUENCE OF COOLANT SCALE DEPOSIT INSIDE THE INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE ON THE PISTON AND CYLINDER DEFORMATIONS
This paper analyzes the influence of engine coolant scale deposits on deformations in the piston and cylinder. Calculations are used to determine how the thermal gap between the piston and cylinder varies according to variations in heat transfer conditions, such as when a layer of scale deposits is formed on the cooling system of an internal combustion engine. A finite element analysis of the thermomechanical behavior of a spark ignition engine piston and cylinder is also presented.
