New Jersey Transit - Route 17 Regional Rail Park-N-Ride Station, Ramsey, New Jersey
When the New Jersey Transit Route 17 Regional Rail Park-N-Ride Station in Ramsey, New Jersey opened, the most pressing need became to build a parking structure that could accommodate an estimated 1,300 vehicles. Severe property line constraints, the fact that the proposed site was adjacent to operating railroad tracks, and a high traffic volume highway provided severe obstacles to building the structure. This article describes how the choice of structural precast, prestressed concrete proved to be the ideal solution in building a fast track multi level, 1291 space parking structure for a busy train station. The economy and speed of the building product chosen were key in successfully completing the project within budget.
