Anhydrite in Clinker
The focus of this paper is to examine the behavior of concrete made of cement produced of clinker containing anhydrite. The following conclusions have been drawn from the experimental results: Anhydrite in clinker is not the cause of mortar expansion after heat treatment; anhydrite forming inclusions in belite causes the mortar to expand after heat treatment; and, the expansion of mortar caused by anhydrite inclusions in belite is independent of low alkalis and tricalcium aluminate content in clinker. The source of ettringite can be brownmillerite.
