Performance Data and Measurement
This particular workshop was a new topic for the Thredbo conference series. The rationale behind its instigation was that past conferences had identified data and measurement issues as a major factor in informing research on competition and ownership in land based transportation. For example, Hensher and Macario (2002), noted that monitoring schemes needed to be improved in order to ensure that appropriate data is gathered, which enables all interested parties to identify the success of a particular service delivery model. The topic however had not a forum through which the subject could be fully explored and discussed and this paper discusses the issue.
