A Planners Guide to Sustainable Development
This book provides the following information: (1) description of the theories, concepts, and origins of sustainable development; (2) presentation of an overview of the progress on the state, national and global fronts regarding sustainable development; (3) discussion of the pursuit of sustainability as a local initiative; (4) recommendations of strategies to the local planning professions for how they can play a more significant role in programs of sustainable development; (5) recommendations of suggestions for components of a community sustainable development program; (6) detailed descriptions of five sustainable development programs that were implemented locally; and (7) inclusion of references for more in-depth study of sustainable development.
