Who's Responsible for Safety?
Although professional employer organizations (PEOs) can help simplify the employee management aspect of a contractor's business, safety is still the primary responsibility of the contractor. As a result of licensing and registration requirements in several states, however, some of the responsibility for safety has been shifted to the PEO. This article provides seven steps a contractor working with a PEO can take to ensure effective safety measures that will keep the company in compliance and also control insurance costs. The contractor and PEO should work as partners in developing and protecting the business.
