Inline Lite - Inline Right?
The combination of recovering passenger traffic and in-lobby explosives detection system (EDS) screening is creating serious bottlenecks at many terminals. The article is proposing simplified inline EDS implementations for mid sized airports. Organized delivery and smooth operational flow are critical to efficient, timely handling of bags in the reconciliation area, an area often overlooked, but key to overall screening system performance. Because security screening in airports is a mosaic of responsibilities among the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), airport, and airlines it seems worthwhile to begin by attributing to each party the costs associated with the screening solutions, and it is perhaps time to explore allowing private sector funding for the purpose.
