Self-Rated Driving Performance among Elderly Drivers Referred for Driving Evaluation
The aims of this study were to examine: 1) whether unsafe elderly drivers differ in their perception of their driving evaluation performance than safe or restricted elderly drivers; and 2) determine whether self rated driving performance at the time of evaluation is related to cognitive ability overall and within driving groups. It is hoped that increased understanding of older drivers' self ratings will lead to efforts to enhance safety and assist clinicians who counsel them about continued and restricted driving as well as driving cessation.
